As part of our Live and Let Live topic, we have been learning about Sea Turtles. First we learnt about their life cycle, watched the film Sammy's Adventure and enjoyed showing our understanding with play dough and role play.
Then we learnt how to draw turtles, practicing our pencil control and our ability to follow instructions.
Finally, after learning the dangers turtles face in today's oceans from plastic pollution, we designed and made our own reusable canvas bags! We hope to take them shopping with us from now on!

This week, to continue our Live and Let Live topic, we took a trip to Sea Life, Bangkok. There we saw a variety of different sea-dwelling creatures. We had a fantastic time!
1R had a lot of fun guessing who was who with our baby photos. Once we had successfully guessed everyone, we talked about how we have changed and grown.
Did you know that we couldn't talk or feed ourselves when we were babies??
We then presented our findings and shared them with the rest of early years.
Last week we learnt all about what animals need to be happy and healthy. Some of us shared pictures from home of the pets we have and how we take care of them.
Then, we all designed a home for our pets and decided on a plan for how we would take care of them. Our pet rocks then went home with us to be taken care of.
This week kicks off our new IPC topic 'Live and Let Live'. For more information about what we are covering this half-term visit the blogs home page.
To introduce the topic the children have been looking at the living things around us at our local park. We saw different types of trees, flowers, birds, insects and even lizards.
The children have had a busy week this week! Starting with an International Day parade and food fair on Monday, a trip to Peru in class Tuesday to Thursday, learnt some games from Chile and Tanzania on Thursday and finally celebrated Chinese New Year in style today!

To finish our transport topic From A to B, the children designed and created their own vehicles. The design brief was simple: Choose a location to travel across, design a vehicle that can carry a Lego man across it.
The children chose between the splash pool, the sand pit or the carpet and worked in pairs to make something they could push, blow, through or pull across their space.
Each group worked really well together, showed great critical thinking skills and made changes as they needed to.
We then tested out their finished vehicles in the 3 areas. I am pleased to announce that every project managed to get from A to B.
This marks the end of our From A to B topic! We have loved learning about journeys and transport and are looking forward to our new topic 'Live and Let Live' after half-term.
